Professor Felix Naughton
Professor in Health Psychology
My key interest is in the development and evaluation of mobile phone interventions to promote and support health behaviour change, particularly those promoting smoking cessation, to prevent cancer and chronic disease. I undertake research to inform the collaborative development of tailored digital interventions and evaluate them using a range of methodologies. Examples include tailored text message systems such as MiQuit (for pregnant smokers), iQuit in Practice (for primary care based smokers), Baby, Me and NRT text message system (promoting adherence to Nicotine Replacement Therapy among pregnant women) and smartphone apps such as Quit Sense (a context aware, Just-In-Time Adaptive intervention [JITAI] for smoking cessation).
