Research is focused on the interface between chemistry and biology and particularly on the use of supramolecular systems for drug and gene delivery and in novel antibacterial and anticancer treatments. Current projects include:
- Gene delivery through functionalised multicalixarenes
- Cell imaging using fluorescently labelled macrocycles
- Anti-adhesives as an approach to antibacterial treatment
- Site-specific pro-drug systems for new anti-cancer agents
- New antibiotics related to algae extracts
- New cation and anion receptors based on calixarenes
- Synthesis of new macrocyclic systems
